The latest report from The Elec mentions that Samsung will be collaborating with a Chinese company, Amperex Technology Limited (ATL), for its upcoming new foldable smartphones. If all goes well, Samsung will use ATL’s battery for the first time in its Galaxy Z series foldable smartphones. However, this is not Samsung’s first collaboration with ATL.
You may have heard of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7, which ended in disaster. Galaxy Note 7, which caused a fiasco with the explosion of its battery and was recalled from the market, was later re-released as a renewed version with the overhaul of its battery. Even Samsung’s Galaxy FE series is based on the Galaxy Note 7. Because after the Galaxy Note 7 disaster, Samsung launched the first FE model as Galaxy Note FE in 2017.
Yes, the Samsung and ATL collaboration for the Galaxy Note 7 years ago finally resulted in Samsung blaming ATL-manufactured batteries for the Galaxy Note 7. However, later on, ATL continued to supply batteries for Samsung’s Galaxy A and M series phones, and lastly for the Galaxy S21. It seems that the same ATL will have reassured enough, that now it seems that the 2 companies will come together for the Galaxy Z series.
Samsung previously used SDI’s batteries for the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. This time, the South Korean company, which seems to prefer ATL, will hopefully not experience another disaster in Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4.
