Flying cars are one step closer to reality with the world’s first vertiport, which opened in the UK last week. The new air transport facility, called Air-One Vertiport and opened in Coventry, England, will be a hub for vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft such as drones, flying cars and flying taxis.

More than 200 vertiports will be built

The developer of Air-One, UK-based Urban-Air Port, said that the new airport, which started its operations, will have more than 200 vertiports planned worldwide in the next five years. He says it will be seen as a plan. In addition, Air-One Vertiport, which was first announced in October 2021 and located in the center of England, will offer the opportunity to reach many points of the country within four hours.

Stating that Air-One will be the beginning of a new era of transportation, Ricky Sandhu, the founder and chief executive officer of Urban-Air Port, stated that with vertiports, the congestion between cities will decrease and people will travel healthier and happier than ever before.
