Strategy Analytics, a research on the global smartphone market, after many giant companies published reports on the first quarter of the year published. In the research, a total of 314 million shipments were made in the first three months of the year; it was noted that this corresponds to an annual decrease of 11%.
Publishing data on market shares, the company stated that South Korean technology giant Samsung showed its best performance in the first quarter of the last five years with 74.5 million shipments and a share of close to 24% in the first quarter. In the second place in the list of best-selling brands, Apple, which announced that it achieved record revenue today, was on the list. It was reported that the market share of the US company, which made 57 million shipments, was 18.2%. The whole list, which included Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo, was as follows;
- Samsung: 74.5 million shipments, 23.8% market share
- Apple: 57 million shipments, 18.2% market share
- Xiaomi: 39 million shipments, 12.4% market share
- OPPO: 29.8 million shipments, 9.5% market share
- Vivo: 25.4 million shipments, 8.1% market share
- Other: 97.1 million shipments, 28% market share
Linda Sui, one of the Strategy Analytics executives, made a statement regarding the global smartphone market, “’In the first quarter of 2022, global smart phone Phone shipments fell 11% to 314 million. “This is the third consecutive decline in the smartphone market,” he said. Sui added that the reason for the decline was factory restrictions, the chip crisis, COVID-19, geopolitical problems and economic difficulties.

Reporting that Xiaomi’s market share decreased to 12% with a decrease of 2% compared to the same period of the previous year, Strategy Analytics analysts stated that the giant company was affected by geopolitical uncertainties in Europe. In addition, experts stated that apart from these five brands, competition among brands such as Honor, Realme, Lenovo-Motorola and Transsion was fierce in the first quarter.
Continuing their comments on the latest report, experts stated that they foresee a decrease in smartphone shipments by 1% to 2% on an annual basis for the remainder of 2022.
