Meta rolled up its sleeves for the feature of using the same WhatsApp account on two different phones. As it will be remembered, thanks to the multi-device system implemented last year, it became possible to use WhatsApp on the computer independently of the phone.
When the QR code in WhatsApp’s desktop application is scanned once on the phone, the chats are automatically transferred to the computer. Then, even if the phone is turned off or offline, you can message and make calls from the computer. However, the system does not yet allow the same transaction to be made between two different mobile devices.
The same WhatsApp account can be used on two phones
According to WABetaInfo’s statement, the big deficiency in the application will be closed soon. Thanks to the new feature detected in the codes of the new beta version numbered 2.22.10.13, a second device can be assigned to the WhatsApp account.
Thus, the same WhatsApp account can be used on two different phones (primary and secondary device). This feature, known as Multi-Device 2.0, was revealed by WABetaInfo again last year. No details were known for a long time, with this week’s beta version, the first screenshot of the new feature came.
WhatsApp cannot be officially installed on iPad at this time. However, Android tablets can be installed from an external source as APK. This shows that the WhatsApp account can be used on both the phone and the tablet at the same time, after the Multi-Device 2.0 system, which is still in development, is implemented.
Multi-device not supported features
According to WhatsApp’s statement, multi-device system does not support the following features:
- Clearing or deleting chats on connected devices if your primary device is iPhone
- Message or call people who have a very old version of WhatsApp installed on their phone
- View current location on connected devices
- Create and view bulk message lists on connected devices
- Sending messages showing preview of links on WhatsApp Web
