Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) discussed the advantages of emerging technologies like Blockchain in boosting the economy with academics, government officials and tech enthusiasts.

Stakeholders, in a two-day workshop organized by the Commission in partnership with the Bureau of Civil Service Reforms (BPSR), led by NCC They agreed that the efficient implementation of guidelines, rules and policies expressed in guidelines can be a cornerstone of innovation and growth.

The workshop focused on ‘Distributed Ledger Technology’ held in Abuja and participants included financial institutions, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA), academia, Nigerian military and paramilitary forces, Nigeria Cyber ​​Warfare Command and the private sector. .

Workshop participants recognized NCC’s role in fostering a dynamic digital regulatory environment, its contribution to the growth and development of new and emerging technologies, and NCC’s adoption of emerging technologies in Nigeria.

NCC’s Director of New Media and Information Security Dr. Haru Al-Hassan gave the keynote speech at the event as follows:

“Good regulatory policies are the foundation of innovation and growth. It is the Commission’s desire that Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs), otherwise known as Blockchain and other innovative technologies, continue to contribute to Nigeria’s growth and development.”

BPSR General Manager Dr. Dasuki Arabi said the Nigerian government is working to align new technologies with the contemporary utility sector through a series of initiatives to increase the efficiency of new technologies. He also stated that Blockchain will be an important component of the implementation of the National e-Government Master Plan.
