Fort Worth, Texas to begin mining Bitcoin.
Crypto-friendly Fort Worth in Texas will begin mining Bitcoin with three Bitmain Antminer S9 mining devices donated by the Texas Blockchain Council. The devices will operate 24/7 outside the Fort Worth town hall.
Mayor Mattie Parker is cautious about mining Bitcoin and keeping Bitcoin on the balance sheet despite the development. He said in a statement that Fort Worth would decide after an evaluation within six months whether to invest money in mining. Parker also stated that if the city had not received donations from the council, they would likely have remained neutral on Bitcoin.
The city, which does not mine Bitcoin for profit, is exemplary for a municipality to mine and keep it on its balance sheet.
