OpenSea acquires NFT aggregator Gem.
According to The Block’s report, OpenSea has acquired NFT aggregator Gem.
The agreement was announced in an email sent to Gem investors.
Gem allows NFTs to be traded across multiple NFT marketplaces. It was stated that after the acquisition, Gem will continue to operate as an independent brand.
Gem said the takeover offer was “unexpected” but would accelerate their growth. Gem also emphasized that Gem will provide its investors with access to OpenSea’s infrastructure, resources and distribution channels.
OpenSea announced in a blog post that it has uncovered allegations against a former Gem leadership team member known as Neso. It was stated that this person left the company before the deal was completed. OpenSea made a statement on the subject, “This person has never been and will never be affiliated with OpenSea.”
