With the global chip crisis, Taiwan started to stand out more. Playing a key role in the crisis, TSMC carried its country to the top thanks to its capacity. It has now become the number one Taiwanese foundry industry.
Taiwan’s largest foundry
According to the market research, Taiwan will dominate 66 percent of the casting market in terms of revenue in 2022. TSMC dominates 56 percent of the revenues, while UMC, PSMC and VIS have around 10 percent. South Korea follows with 17 percent and China with 8 percent. There is a huge difference between them. The total revenue of the industry will reach an estimated $128 billion.
High demand for chip equipment
brings together. Taiwan has a 26 percent share in semiconductor revenues, 27 percent in chip design and 20 percent in packaging and testing industry. 8-inch and 12-inch plate production dominates in Taiwan.
Taiwan has a 48 percent share in 12-inch plate production capacity, which has a share of more than 50 percent in the foundry industry. Again in this dimension, it holds a 61 percent share in 16nm and beyond processes. Due to the rise of 8-inch plates, Taiwan will drop 1 point in this category this year.
