ThinkPad series business laptops were introduced by IBM nearly 30 years ago in 1992 and have been in our lives ever since. The ThinkPad brand was acquired by Lenovo in 2005, and all ThinkPad laptops have been designed, developed and marketed by Lenovo since then.
Another new model has been added to the series with the ThinkPad T16 Gen 1. One of the most striking features of this model is that it is the first T-series model to have a 16-inch screen.
Lenovo ThinkPad T16 Gen 1 features: Intel and AMD
uses the more modern 16:10 aspect ratio compared to the 16:9 aspect ratios of ThinkPads released before 2021. While the 16-inch IPS LCD screen offers 2.5K resolution, it reaches a maximum brightness of 500 nits. This display with optional touch panel covers 100 percent of the sRGB color space.
Intel’s latest 12th generation Alder series processors, as well as AMD Ryzen 6000 Pro series processors, are offered as an option for those who want to buy the new ThinkPad. Those who prefer an Intel processor get a U or P series 12th generation Core processor, up to 48GB DDR4 RAM and up to 2TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD.
On the graphics card side, there are two different options, MX550 or RTX 2050 Mobile. Those who prefer
AMD processors can configure their ThinkPad T16 with up to 32GB of 6400MHz LPDDR5 RAM, Ryzen 7 PRO 6000 series processor and up to 2TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage. There is a fast charging adapter in the box of the laptop, which offers two different battery options,
, 52.5 Wh and 86 Wh. Those who prefer models with Intel processors can charge the computer up to 135W.
When we look at the computer’s ports, which can be equipped with WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 as well as an optional LTE modem, we see 2 USB-C and 2 USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, as well as an HDMI 2.0b, It has an RJ45 and a 3.5mm headphone jack input.
If buyers choose the Intel model, the USB-C ports support Thunderbolt 4 technology. When they choose AMD, their USB-C ports are USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 compatible. While the ThinkPad T16 is expected to be officially launched in the second quarter of 2022, its price is yet to be determined.
