Despite pressure from the European Union, Apple did not take any steps regarding the Lightning entry. According to the leaked information, Apple will use a USB 3.0 supported Lightning connector on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models.
The European Union is working for smartphone manufacturers to switch to the Type-C standard. Stating that a single type of cable should be used, the European Union commission will give Apple time to switch to new technology.
iPhone 14 Pro will come with a faster Lightning connector
Information about the iPhone 14 family, which is expected to be introduced in September, continues to leak. Among the leaked information is that the company will launch the iPhone 14 Max model instead of the iPhone 14 mini.
Apple, which comes up with Type-C connectors on Mac and iPad models, still insists on Lightning technology on the iPhone. Some analysts claim that Apple will work for another year for the Lightning connector, then switch to Type-C technology.
According to the report published by iDropNews, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will use a faster Lightning connector than other models. Standard Lightning cables work with USB 2.0 technology. It is stated that the new connector, which is stated to have USB 3.0 technology, will be assertive in data transfer and charging speed.
When Apple released the first iPad Pro, it used a USB 3.0 Lightning connector so users could transfer photos and videos directly to the iPad. For some reason, Apple never brought the updated Lightning connector to the iPhone.
The current Lightning connector used in the iPhone is based on USB 2.0 technology, which is still very old and can only transfer data at 480 Mbps. iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models will offer speeds of up to 5 Gbps thanks to USB 3.0. It is thought to be a solution as it has become a problem for professionals as it takes a long time to transfer 4K ProRes video using the Lightning cable.
