Microsoft will end support for Office 2013 in April 2023

Microsoft has announced the end of support for the Office 2013 software package. Company officials informed their customers that the support for office programs will be terminated on April 11, 2023.

Earlier this week, Microsoft reminded customers that support for Microsoft Office 2013 will end next year, recommending that they upgrade to a newer version to avoid exposure to security risks. After Extended Support, Office 2013 will reach the end of extended support on April 11, 2023. In accordance with the fixed lifecycle policy, security updates for Office 2013 will no longer be available after this date.

After Office 2013 support ends, Microsoft new security will not provide updates, and continued use of Office 2013 after April 2023 may increase your organization’s exposure to security risks or comply with compliance obligations. It can affect your ability to fulfill your duties.”

Microsoft recommends upgrading

End of support does not mean that apps will stop working. Customers are free to continue using Office 2013 after April 2023, but they should keep in mind that lack of support increases security risks. In addition, Microsoft will no longer provide technical support after the stated end-of-life date, so customers may encounter various issues.

Office 2013 users can choose an Office 365 subscription to keep their Office apps up to date and receive regular feature updates. Microsoft also sells perpetual Office 2021 licenses for those who choose to make a one-time purchase.
