While all platforms including Twitter, Telegram, Discord entered the competition race with Clubhouse last year; One of the most ambitious companies in this regard was Facebook, the sister of Instagram and WhatsApp. Currently operating under Meta, Facebook introduced several audio features such as Hotline and Soundbites last April.

According to Bloomberg’s news, Facebook started to take a step back just one year after it opened its voice features. According to sources, the company is no longer as interested in podcasts and other audio-focused projects as it was last year. Instead, it is stated that Meta has shifted the focus elsewhere.

Facebook will give importance to Metaverse and Reels

According to the information reached, Facebook will turn to Metaverse and e-commerce sector with its podcast partners in the coming period. On the other hand, it has been reported that the umbrella company Meta gives priority to Reels, that is, the short-form video format, which is currently available on Instagram and Facebook, more than its other projects.

In a statement on the subject, a Meta spokesperson said that the audio-focused features developed as a competitor to Clubhouse interact well and sound is an important tool for self-expression. Stating that they have not completely given up on the podcast business, the spokesperson added that they consider the ideas of the content producers while developing new features.

Facebook Inc. was named last October as part of its investments in Metaverse, which is defined as the future of the internet.
