Ukraine’s deputy prime minister and minister of digital transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, thanked those who donated cryptocurrencies to charities for Ukraine today and said:
Just days after the start of the Russian invasion, the Ukrainian government has released blockchain service Everstake and Authorized Aid for Ukraine, a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) in collaboration with crypto trading firm FTX, to raise cryptocurrency for its defense effort.
The plan was hastily drawn up when Fedorov, 31, said to open official government wallets that could accept payments in cryptocurrency. The wallets accept donations in many cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, Solana, and Dogecoin.
As of March 19, the Ukrainian government has raised more than $100 million in cryptocurrencies for thousands of bulletproof vests, food, helmets and medical supplies. The government had deliberately chosen to spend the funds on non-lethal equipment so as not to deter donors.
