TikTok released the ‘dislike’ feature to the testing phase
It seems that TikTok is getting a ‘dislike’ feature. The company announced that it is currently testing the ‘dislike’ button in the comments section. In the applications of selected users, the ‘dislike’ option has appeared in the comments section along with the testing phase.
With the new system, users will be able to indicate comments they deem as ‘irrelevant or inappropriate’ in this way. TikTok stated that in this way, they want to make their users “feel more control over comments”.
The number of disliked comments or dislikes on TikTok will not be determined. Neither the original commenter nor the creator whose content is commented on will have information about the ‘dislike’. When a comment is disliked, the company’s moderation system will record the response and take action accordingly. The company believes that limiting the visibility of a ‘disliked’ comment will prevent a ‘bad feeling’ among users.
The feature, which is currently in the testing phase, will be activated according to the feedback made in the community. TikTok stated that the ‘dislike’ button is currently being tested in regions outside the US. In the future, the scope of the test phase can be expanded to include this region.
The ‘Dislike’ option has recently been tested and used by many applications. YouTube also activated the feature that Reddit has been using for a long time. However, the company has decided to hide the dislike count after a recent policy change to protect creators. Twitter has also been working on the ‘dislike’ feature for a while.
