CryptoPunk #7756 NFT has been sold for 1050 Eth ($3.2 million), according to a Twitter bot tracking recent trades.
Pixel display NFT is part of the 10,000 NFT collection.
Chain CEO Deepak Thapliyal had purchased a rare CryptoPunk NFT for $23.7 million.
The Ethereum-based project was launched in 2017, when NFTs were not yet mainstream. Larva Labs, the company behind the collection, released some NFTs for free at the time for a test purpose.
The popularity of the NFT collection peaked with acquisitions by celebrities like Jay-Z.
One of the first NFT projects, CryptoPunks also played an important role in the emergence of other important collections such as Doodles. The transaction volume of the collection has now surpassed the level of 2 billion dollars.
Yuga Lavs, the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection, acquired CryptoPunks last month, solidifying its dominance in the industry.
