The final protocols of WiFi 7, that is, 802.11be standard, have not been published yet, but companies have started to adopt them quickly. Broadcom is preparing to launch its first WiFi 7 chips.
What are Broadcom WiFi 7 chips?
BCM4916, one of the new chips, contains 4 ARMv8 cores and reaches 24 DMIPS performance. Each core has 64kB Level 1 cache, 1MB Level 2 cache. The DI-XRDP engine successfully blends data between wired and wireless network interfaces. A special security chip has also been added for ARM TrustZone and Secure Boot. While support is offered for DDR3 and DDR4, there is support such as dual USB 3.2 ports, 10Gbps interface, 2.5Gbps Ethernet interface, 4Gb port.
What are the Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 features?
BCM6726 and BCM67263 chips will take their place in consumer devices. The BCM67263 chip supports the 6GHz band and can go up to 11.5Gbps at 320MHz bandwidth. The BCM6726 supports 3 bands, reaching speeds of 5.75Gbps at 160MHz bandwidth.
BCM43740 and BCM73720 prepared for the enterprise side. The BCM43740 carries the top features of the above two chips. The BCM73720, on the other hand, reaches speeds of 2.88Gbps in 160MHz bandwidth and focuses on cost. BCM4398, which will go to mobile devices, will reach 6.05Gbps speeds at 320MHz frequency. The chips will be procured towards the end of the year.
