It was recently revealed that Samsung could surprise its followers in the next wave of high-end phones, with the emergence of news suggesting that MediaTek chipsets will be used in the Galaxy S22 FE and Samsung Galaxy S23 series. But this news was already strange news in itself, and new leaks make it even less likely to be true.

Leaker @chunvn8888, who has a relatively successful history, shared on Twitter that a Samsung Galaxy S22 FE powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9000 will not appear “for now”. Yogesh Brar, another reputable leaker, later responded by saying, “It won’t happen in the future either.”

However, it may not be right to completely ignore the possibility of using a MediaTek chipset in a phone like the Galaxy S23. Currently, there is a source (Business Korea) suggesting that the transition to MediaTek is on the way, while two other sources (at least for the Galaxy S22 FE) suggest that this transition will not happen. Therefore, it seems more likely that Samsung will stick with the Exynos and Snapdragon chipset series it is currently using.

MediaTek chipsets are potentially cheaper than what Samsung is currently using, but since they lack the prestige of the Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets, it might make sense to use them in the non-flagship S22 FE. But whether it will be the right choice for the Galaxy S23 series is a highly controversial issue…
