Aleksander Larsen, co-founder of Sky Mavis, which developed Axie Infinity, said that they took full responsibility for the Ronin hack.
The senior executive told CoinDesk, “These were the players who trusted us and we failed to fulfill that trust.”

“When you’re going 100 miles an hour, sometimes you get heavy on the corners. I guess that’s what we lived here. Therefore, we learned the lesson and take full responsibility”
Sky Mavis had migrated from the Ethereum network to the cheaper, faster but more centralized Ronin network. Sky Mavis was responsible for the network.
Larsen admitted that it was the road to “progressive decentralization”, admitting that they were unable to move fast and as a result left users vulnerable.
“We are a team focused on moving forward towards progressive decentralization. But all the trades made left us vulnerable to the attack”
Sky Mavis will add more validators to prevent further exploits.
Larsen said they are replacing stolen funds and raising funds from outside:
“Users should not lose their funds in such a situation. This is entirely our responsibility”
Larsen, describing what happened as a “nightmare”, emphasized that he thinks the industry will grow against hacking attacks.
