Google is also participating in the “fix it yourself” program initiated by Apple and Samsung. A new move has been made for Pixel phones, after Apple and Samsung gave their customers the resources needed to fix phones.

Partnering with iFixit, Google will provide hardware parts so customers can repair their Pixel phones. According to the statement from the technology giant, the new agreement will address models ranging from Pixel 2 to Pixel 6 Pro.

Google agreed with iFixit to repair Pixel models

According to Google’s new blog post, Pixel owners get the right to repair their phones themselves. Announcing that it has partnered with iFixit, the US technology giant will offer hardware parts for Pixel phones. These parts will include various components from the battery to the camera.

This “fix it yourself” program, previously run by Apple and Samsung, actually provides great convenience to users. Giving the right to change a full list of hardware such as battery, camera and screen, Google also offers the iFixit Fix Kit.

Google did not ignore its users who do not want to repair the Pixel on their own. The company announced that if you want to have your device repaired by someone else, you can get parts, tools, documents and training support from authorized repair shops.

Although Google Pixel phones are not officially on sale in our country yet, the repair program will be launched in the countries of sale (USA, UK, Australia, Canada and EU countries where Pixel phones are sold).

Google also announced that it will accelerate its sustainability move. Stating that all Google devices, including Pixel, will contain recycled material, the technology giant believes that it will offer Pixel security updates for five years and will help devices to be used longer.
