After becoming the first major browser to offer free VPN service five years ago, Opera has now announced its new VPN Pro subscription service. Unlike its browser’s current free VPN, Opera VPN Pro offers users a premium full-device VPN option that provides additional security and privacy for all Android smartphones.
Standalone VPN services require users to install an additional app and sign up for an account, while Opera aims to keep its users’ online security simple and easy. With Opera VPN Pro, users of the service are given the opportunity to easily subscribe using their existing Opera sync accounts without having to download a separate application.
Opera VPN Pro can work on up to six different Android smartphones under a single subscription, as well as providing enhanced security for the entire device. Next-generation encryption also helps keep user data safe no matter what app is running on their device. Like its
Free VPN, Opera VPN Pro is a no-logs service but also offers access to 3,000+ private network servers in over 30 virtual locations around the world. This allows users to stream videos, download files and browse the web securely when connected to a public Wi-Fi hotspot.
Opera’s premium VPN service can also be run in data saver mode so that users don’t exceed the limits of their cell phone plans.
A three-month plan is priced at $8.97 total, while Opera is currently running a promotion for new VPN Pro users while the service is in beta for just $1.99 per month for the quarterly plan. In addition, users have the opportunity to get a monthly membership for $2.99 per month. There is also a 7-day free trial period and a 30-day money-back guarantee for new users to test the service.
Stefan Stjernelund, product manager of Opera for Android, providing more information about the company’s decision to launch a premium version of its VPN service in a press release, said: We offer built-in advanced features.
