Chinese automotive company NIO is working on a smartphone. The company’s CEO, William Li, confirmed the studies and acknowledged that the device is still in the research phase, while citing Apple as their potential competitor in the future market.

CEO William Li recently shared some information about the company’s future plans. Based on Li’s speeches, it seems that the company plans to develop an ecosystem of products and services similar to Apple.
Li said in a show he attended: “Just think, if an Apple Car model launches by 2025 and 60% or more of NIO users are using Apple phones, NIO has no defense. NIO has nothing to prepare today. If he doesn’t do anything, at that point it’s not going to be fun.” said.
