Volkswagen Russia factory starts production next June
Volkswagen decided to stop production at its factories in Russia on March 3, keeping up with the embargo winds carried out all over the world. Then, the automotive company, which also stopped its automobile exports in the past weeks, apparently does not want to harm its deep commercial relations with Russia. A published report states that Volkswagen is prepared to step back in its decision.
Volkswagen Group Russia has an important production line for the company at its Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod facilities. According to the report, the company may face a major supply chain threat after it decides to stop production at these factories. Therefore, it wants to start production again at the Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod plants next June or at the latest in July.
Russia has an important place in Volkswagen’s production line. Undoubtedly, the war environment continues to affect the automotive giant as well as many large companies. So much so that in the past weeks, Volkswagen also stopped its automobile exports. But not under the name of sanctions.
Volkswagen stopped car exports, citing supply chain shortages, the coronavirus hurdle and some other issues. However, this situation is very damaging to both the Russian wing and the Volkswagen side. Whether the automotive giant will actually start production is already a matter of curiosity.
