According to the latest statement by Tesla, the first quarter saw great success in car deliveries. The new report of the automotive giant revealed that 310 thousand vehicles were delivered, an increase of about 68 percent compared to the first period of 2021.

Tesla sales fell short of production expectations of 312,000 cars, according to Wedbush Securities. But the critical surge in sales came despite tackling the global chip crisis and other parts shortages.

Tesla sales figures broke a record despite the chip crisis

The US electric vehicle giant announced its production and delivery results. Breaking the record of delivery of 308,600 vehicles from October to December of 2021, Tesla delivered 185,000 vehicles in the first quarter of last year. This year, it pleased its customers with 310.00 vehicles.

The global chip shortage has hit almost all automakers, but Tesla seems to have been more successful than the rest of the industry. Analysts also reminded that 20,000 to 25,000 sales, which were to occur in the first quarter, were delayed into the second quarter due to supply and logistics problems.

“We continue to see a steady rise in Tesla sales, and we believe this is modest upward pressure when all production dynamics are taken into account.”

Tesla’s annual vehicle delivery in 2021 reached 936 thousand, an increase of 87 percent compared to 2020 figures. The automotive giant said that there could be 50 percent annual growth in sales, meaning that it plans to deliver about 1.4 million cars this year.

However, in his meeting with analysts, CEO Elon Musk reminded that the chip shortage will prevent the company from releasing new models this year.

Tesla most recently opened its new factory in Germany and began manufacturing the Model Y SUV at the new factory near Texas last year.
