Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Discord channel was hacked the other day, causing panic in the community.
Interestingly, the Discord hack resulted in the theft of a Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFT. The stolen NFT had a price of 20 ETH (about 69 thousand dollars) at the time. After the steal, it was resold for 23.64 ETH.
Although the actual cause of the hack was not disclosed, the Bored Ape team warned community members not to click on the links in the Discord channel.
Due to this trouble, ApeCoin also remained in a very stable position. Both the token and the network showed a lackluster performance. The token, which has not been very active since its launch, remained in place after the attack.
On-chain metrics show that altcoin adoption has dropped significantly within two weeks of ApeCoin launch.
Altcoin’s price action has not seen any extraordinary change in the past few days. At the time of writing, ApeCoin is trading at $12.78, down 2%.
