Ukraine struggles hard to keep country online

Telecommunication services in Ukraine were also badly damaged when Russia attempted to invade Ukraine. Due to the damages in the important centers of the country’s major telecommunication providers, the country continues its efforts to ensure the continuity of communication lines without slowing down.

Switching between service providers allowed

Important centers of Kyivstar, the country’s largest internet and mobile operator, providing services to half of the people living in the country, were attacked. In addition, Lifecell, the country’s third largest telecommunications provider, along with other service providers, was adversely affected by the current process.

Looking at the statements made by service providers, companies in the country support each other in the repair of damaged base stations. They especially emphasize the importance of this cooperation in field work. However, they state that they allow customers to seamlessly switch to other carriers’ networks in case the contracted service provider fails.

There are theories that the field studies carried out by the service providers in Ukraine and their actions on the failure of the communication lines are important for Russia, other than the citizens in the country, to gather intelligence or send reports to the soldiers.
