Since last year, rumors have been circulating that Sony is preparing a service to rival Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass service. According to a new report from Bloomberg, we may encounter this service very soon.

According to the news, the service, codenamed Spartacus, will debut later this week and Sony is preparing “a stunning lineup of hit games from recent years” to kick things off. Details on whether these are first-party or third-party games are not yet available. It is also said that Spartacus will combine the offers of PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now subscriptions that Sony currently offers.

According to a previous report by Bloomberg, there will be tiers of access, starting with PlayStation Plus features only, to cloud games, extended demos, and top-of-the-line retro consoles to classic titles.

Sony’s service, however, will not offer first-day access to newly released games, unlike Xbox Game Pass. For example, the upcoming God of War Ragnarök will not arrive in Spartacus at the same time it is released.

Of course, it’s important to note that none of this has yet been confirmed by Sony. But if what the news says is true, we won’t have to wait long to find out what the company will offer…
