Apple plans to add a “slightly larger” wireless charging coil to the iPhone 13 series, which it will introduce in the next few months. This innovation will not only provide better heat management and higher charging power, but also pave the way for reverse wireless charging, according to a new statement by Max Weinbach.
We May See Reverse Wireless Charging On The iPhone 13
According to rumors, Apple plans to enlarge the physical wireless charging coil in the upcoming new iPhone. If this idea comes true, it will increase the surface area where wireless charging can be initiated. Famous analyst Weinbach previously stated that 2021 model iPhones will have stronger MagSafe magnets.
Weinbach also estimates that the increased coil size can be used for reverse wireless charging, allowing users to charge wireless charging compatible devices such as AirPods by placing them on the back of the “iPhone”.
A statement supporting this claim was made by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in February. Although Apple has officially announced this feature, it is one of the most important clues for the iPhone 13 series that this feature does not come for iPhone 12 models, 2nd Generation AirPods, AirPods Pro or newer Apple Watches in FCC certification applications made for iPhones in 2020.
