At this point, NASA aims to unravel the secrets of the universe with the SPHEREx observatory.

Will the SPHEREx observatory support the Big Bang theory?

NASA wants to solve mysteries about the origin of the entire universe, known and unknown. It plans to do this with the SPHEREx observatory/research instrument, which it first introduced in 2019 and is expected to start operating in 2024.

NASA said that the calendar planned for 2024 for the mission called SPHEREx observatory, or Spectro-Fhotometer for the History of the Universe, could be delayed to 2025. The main purpose of this device will be to focus on the Big Bang / Big Bang theory and to enable us to understand the first few seconds of the formation of the universe.

In addition to existing telescopes such as Hubble and James Webb, there are now many competent observatories in the sky. But these are generally to enable us to see and understand places that we cannot see with the naked eye and that would take millions of years if we tried to go.

On the other hand, SPHEREx, on the other hand, will allow us to see the entire universe from a window as wide as possible instead of bringing us closer to a certain area. Therefore, instead of focusing on the details, it will enable us to have a holistic perspective by seeing the universe on a large scale.

Beth Fabinsky, deputy project manager for SPHEREx at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), said in a statement:

It’s about doing a census by knowing a few people and learning about the population as a whole. is the difference between Both types of work are important and complement each other. But there are some questions that can only be answered with this census.

SPHEREx uses different equipment from telescopes like Hubble and James Webb. Instead of having a very large mirror that can focus on very distant objects, it will only have a 8-inch diameter primary mirror. It will also be able to scan 99 percent of the sky every six months because it is much faster than other telescopes.
