Apple released the macOS Monterey 12.3 update for Macs on March 14. The release of macOS 12.3 was exciting news for Mac users. The Universal Control feature that comes with this update may be one of the features that excites users the most. Because with the Universal Control feature, you can directly control your iPad via Mac without the need for an external keyboard and mouse for iPad. MacBook with replaced motherboard Watch out for downloading macOS 12.3

Some users say their MacBook has become unusable after updating to macOS 12.3. This problem was encountered especially on 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros whose motherboards were replaced. The first reports of the issue appeared on the Developer Forums about two weeks ago. At the time, macOS 12.3 was in beta, and a user reported having problems installing the update after replacing multiple parts on their MacBook Pro. A week later, another user replied to the thread saying that he had the same problem. Another user said that many people with MacBooks whose motherboards were replaced may encounter this problem. According to the Apple Developer Forums

, there are two possible outcomes when users try to install the macOS 12.3 update on their MacBook Pro with modified motherboard. First, the upgrade may fail, which will put your computer into recovery. Then you will start again in 12.2.1 with a problem dialog from iBoot Panic.

Second, you can try to upgrade again. However, this action may corrupt the iBoot FW driver, and if this happens, you will need to revive your device using a second Mac with Apple Configurator 2 to install macOS 12.2.1. It’s also possible that trying to update to macOS 12.3 will break the system immediately. If this happens, you’ll need to use a second Mac with Apple Configurator to reinstall the previous update. Apple, on the other hand, has not made any statement on the subject at this time.
