As it is known, after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, it has been the subject of discussion that crypto assets can be used as a tool to break the sanctions against Russia. Many countries, such as the USA, UK and Japan, have issued some guidelines considering this possibility.

However, industry leaders seem uncomfortable with this perception. Recently, the CEO of Coinbase and Ripple also summarized the reasons why Russian oligarchs think they cannot use digital assets for this purpose. Bankman-Fried was the last to join this wing. In its statement on the subject, SBF used the following statements:

“The messages our industry received on this issue made me very sad. I think it’s fundamentally anti-regulation, that’s how it was perceived and that’s what it sounds like, and I think that caused a pretty big perception problem.”
