The Argentine Senate is preparing to vote on the letter of intent with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which includes a provision deterring the use of cryptoassets. The provision forms part of the Technical Memorandum of Understanding (TMU) signed by Argentina and the IMF on 3 March.

The provision titled “Strengthening financial resilience”, which includes crypto assets, of the agreement, which will restructure the $ 45 billion loan the country received in 2018, is as follows:

“Black money to further protect financial stability We are taking important steps to deter the use of cryptocurrencies to prevent laundering, informality and brokerage.”

The country with an inflation of 52% is one of the leading crypto centers.
