Winamp announced that it will sell the original interface of its MP3 player, which it launched in 1997, as NFT. Joining the caravan of companies combining nostalgia and crypto money, Winamp’s interface, which was prepared in 1997, will be auctioned on OpenSea until May 22. A further 20 artworks based on the original interface will then be put up for sale. It has been announced that the proceeds will be transferred to the Winamp foundation and used for charity.

The NFT sale appears to be a combination of a promotional move and a fundraising effort. Winamp is asking artists to submit Winamp-based works by April 15. The 20 selected works will be put up for sale and the artists will be given 20 percent of the revenue from each.
