If you’re an Android user, you’ve probably encountered a problem when communicating with iPhone owners using iMessage, where emoji responses sent from iPhones are translated into text and delivered as a separate message. Fortunately, Google’s update in March seems to eliminate this problem. The update includes the ability to properly display emoji reactions for the Messages app.

Other updates to the Messages app include messages automatically sorted by “personal” and “business” categories, in-app birthday reminders, and alerts to remind you to reply to or follow messages.

Another update is coming to Google Photos. There are some improvements, including playing videos sent through the app at the same resolution as the original and adjusting the photos to do the same. Among the new features is the ability to add Google’s Portrait Blur effect to any image in the app, even if it was shot on a phone without portrait mode.

Other updates include sharing with multiple people at once via Share with Nearby, paying for parking using Google Assistant, using Live Caption when offline, and a new personalized news feed, reviews and other content and Google TV’. also includes improvements.

These updates will be rolled out to respective apps in the coming weeks and will arrive as updates to apps rather than Android itself. So don’t expect a major update that includes everything.
