The number of dating sites and platforms is increasing day by day. As with many things in our lives, the process of meeting new people now takes place online. Tinder, one of the most popular matchmaking sites among them, announced that it will take some steps such as criminal record checking to make this process safe.

Tinder will do a criminal record check before match

Tinder has announced that it will launch a new service called criminal record check. In this way, users will be able to see if there have been any shameful crimes or arrests, convictions and violent behavior in the past of their match.

For this reason, Tinder will sign a non-profit organization called Garbo, which its parent company Match Group acquired in 2021, to conduct a criminal record check. Tracey Breeden, Head of Safety and Social Advocacy at Match Group, said:

For too long, women and traditionally marginalized groups have faced many security barriers. Garbo’s thoughtful and innovative consumer background checks will move the industry forward while empowering people with critical information to help inform their personal safety choices.

During the event, Tinder said that it would offer 2 different free checking services. However, after the statement by Match Group, it was revealed that $2.50 and a small processor fee would be required for detailed investigations. Of course, for now, there is no information about the arrival of this new feature in our country.

In addition, Match Group said that it will launch similar new services in other dating apps such as Match and OkCupid in the coming months, and this may become a standard procedure in the future.
