Today, the internet has become an indispensable part of our lives. Many websites trust Cloudflare when it comes to security. The Cloudflare system, which protects websites against attacks, has servers in many parts of the world.

After many US-based websites and platforms crashed yesterday, Cloudflare announced that it has protected its servers in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. But the company’s preferred method to protect data is quite interesting.

The data will be destroyed automatically, so why?

US-based Cloudflare announced that it protects its servers in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus in case of any attack. The company explained that the servers are programmed to ‘automatically destroy’ itself if the ‘keys’ used to encrypt data are compromised.

The reason why the company took such a precaution is that millions of GB of data stored on servers include the data of many internet sites around the world, from ordinary users. There are also official websites of many states among these sites. If this data falls into the hands of hackers, almost the entire world’s identity on the Internet can be compromised.

The company also announced that the information of all users originating from Russia and sites originating from Russian and Donetsk People’s Republic were deleted from the system and these users will not be able to use the Cloudflare service again. US experts, on the other hand, announced that Cloudflare may impose more sanctions in the near future.

Cloudflare officials, who responded negatively to the US government’s call to withdraw from Russia, replied, “Whatever happens, Russia needs the internet”
