The parents of an Activision Blizzard employee who died by suicide at one of the company’s meetings in 2017 are filing a new lawsuit against the company, The Washington Post reported. Paul and Janet Moynihan, parents of Kerri Moynihan, who died at the age of 32, former chief financial officer of Activision Blizzard, claim that sexual harassment was a “significant factor” contributing to suicide. Investigators ruled Moynihan’s death a suicide after she was found dead in a hotel room at the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa in April 2017.
Moynihan was cited anonymously in a lawsuit filed last July by California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) against Activision Blizzard for allegedly “promoting a toxic culture of persistent sexual harassment”. According to the DFEH complaint, her male colleagues handed out a photo of Kerri Moynihan’s vagina at a holiday party before her death. When the lawsuit was filed, Activision Blizzard said that DFEH’s claims were “distorted”. Now, it seems that things will reach a different dimension with the lawsuit filed by the parents.
According to the lawsuit, Activision Blizzard allegedly refused to grant police access to Moynihan’s company-issued phones and laptops during the investigation of Moynihan’s death.
