Corporate companies like countries continue to be the target of cyber attacks. Many companies interrupt their production due to cyber attacks, experience difficulties in user access, and leak the information of their employees or users. Unfortunately, there are many examples of this and a new one is added to these news almost every day.

According to the information released, Samsung was also a victim of cyber attacks. New information has emerged about the dimensions of the cyber attack on Samsung. The situation looks pretty bad for Samsung.

Many source codes leaked, including Samsung’s unlocking algorithms

The secret source code was also leaked. The Lapsus$ group claimed responsibility for the attack, in which Samsung lost nearly 190 GB of data. The group has released a snapshot of the C/C++ directories in Samsung software to demonstrate that they will publish the data they have handled online. Not long after publishing this image, Lapsus$ split the files into three compressed files and leaked them online.

The leaked data contained a lot of data used to authorize and authenticate Samsung accounts, including algorithms used for biometric unlocking, bootloader source code for all new Samsung devices, Qualcomm’s secret source code, APIs and services; now all of this data has been leaked to the online world.

Lapsus$ recently launched a similar cyber attack against NVIDIA and made demands from the company, saying that they would leak the data they obtained. After the attack on NVIDIA, about 1 TB of data was lost. It is unclear whether Lapsus$ has made any requests to Samsung. Samsung has not yet made a statement about the data loss.
