Russia, which occupied Ukraine, was exposed to great reactions from the rest of the world. In fact, many companies stopped their services in Russia and tried to erase Russia from the internet.

However, Russia, which did not give up the occupation despite all the sanctions, has now responded to the sanctions imposed on itself by the social media giants.

Twitter, Facebook and YouTube blocked in Russia

According to Bloomberg journalist Parmy Olson, an ‘iron firewall’ is being set up on the Russian internet. Olson announced that social media platforms and radios such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, BBC Russia, Radio Free Europe and Voice of America are blocked in Russia.

According to Olson’s claim, the reason for this sudden decision is both to respond to the sanctions of the companies and to ensure that the “propaganda” created by Russia about Ukraine continues. Users in some parts of Russia also report access problems on sites such as Wikipedia.

Experts claim that all social media platforms and foreign news sources except Telegram and VK may be banned in the country.
