“I wanted to take some time to address the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
I know that I speak on behalf of everyone at Apple when expressing our concerns for all those affected by the violence. With every new image of citizens, we see how important it is for people around the world to come together to advance the cause of peace.
Apple donates to humanitarian efforts and provides relief to the burgeoning refugee crisis. Also considers what we can do more I know many of you are also eager to find ways to support, and we want to help increase the impact of your donations. Starting today, Apple will support your donations at a 2:1 ratio to eligible organizations, which will retroactively apply to donations to those organizations starting February 25. more info For i, please visit the Employee Grants Portal.
We are working to support our teams across Ukraine and the region. We have been in contact with every employee in Ukraine, helping them and their families in any way we can. For our Ukrainian team members who are abroad and may need support, please contact [email removed]. And for any employee needing any support, please visit the Contacts site for available resources.”
The email continues: “As a company, we are also taking additional precautions. We stopped all product sales in Russia. Last week, we stopped all exports to our sales channel in the country. Apple Pay and other services are limited. RT News and Sputnik News are no longer available for download from the App Store outside of Russia. As a safety precaution for citizens of Ukraine, we have disabled both traffic and live events in Apple Maps in Ukraine.
We will continue to assess the situation and are in contact with relevant governments regarding the measures we have taken.
This moment we are in; It reminds us that we must never lose sight of unity, courage and the humanity we all share. During these difficult times, I am relieved to know that we are united in our commitment to be a force for good for each other, our users and the world.”
As Cook highlighted in his email and Apple stated in its public statements, Apple has taken several measures in the region. Tuesday announced that it has stopped sales of its products in Russia. In addition, Apple Maps data sharing in Ukraine and the use of Apple Pay in Russia are limited.
