Billionaire wants to offer crypto payment option for $70 million painting.

Jean-Michel Basquiat was an African-American painter who became famous in the 80s and was one of the leading figures in the art community.

The artwork in question, “Untitled, 1982,” depicts a horned demon figure.

The painting was originally purchased by Maezawa for $57.3 million at Christie’s in May 2016.

Maezawa, who is also a fashion designer, states that Basquiat’s most famous work of art is “extremely powerful” and “melancholic.”

Maezawa is known for his passion for contemporary art collection. In 2017, he spent $110.5 million on another painting by Basquiat.
