Now, a rather interesting statement has come from a research team led by an academic in the United States. The research team reported that they noticed the military operation of the Russian army in Ukraine hours before Putin officially announced the operation.

In a statement made by Jeffrey Lewis, an academic at the Middlebury Institute for International Studies in Monterey, California It was stated that the research team working on arms control and non-proliferation noticed that an armored vehicle contingent from Russia was in the city of Belgorod near the Ukrainian border while examining the images of Capella Space, which develops earth observation satellites.
Upon this, the research team that opened Google’s Maps application found that there was a traffic jam around the same area outside of normal rush hours. In the light of the events that followed, the team realized that this situation occurred because civilian vehicles were stopped to allow military vehicles to pass.
Expressing that there is a lot of data showing what kind of patterns occur in the normal flow of life in his statement on the subject, Lewis noted that “When there were deviations in this, we realized that there was something unusual in the region.”
Additionally, Lewis said, “We used to need a reporter to get us on what was going on in the area. Today, you can open Google Maps and see the people fleeing Kiev.”
