The trading volume of Ukrainian cryptocurrency exchange Kuna has more than tripled since Russia attacked the country, according to CoinGecko data.
24-hour trading volume on Kuna was approximately $1.5 million on Thursday morning Asian time. But the stock market’s volume rose to just under $5 million in the early morning hours. At the time of writing, the 24-hour volume was around 3,138,638.
Bitcoin is currently trading at $37,640 on the Ukrainian exchange. After Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a “special military operation” to “disarm and de-Nazis Ukraine”, the price of Bitcoin first fell sharply, and then the leading cryptocurrency started to rise. The market is seeing some rebound on Friday after a hard sell-off on Thursday amid news of Russia’s military operation, with Anchor Protocol, Maker and Terra leading up nearly 20%.
