Twitter has announced that it mistakenly removed a number of accounts that shared details about Russian military activities. It was stated that the Russian military activities were shared in the Ukraine invasion and the accounts of people who made open source intelligence (OSINT) to prevent fake news and claims were affected by this situation.
Access to accounts is restored
Twitter stated that although collective reporting is primarily blamed on access barriers, there are currently proactive steps taken to prevent false information.
A Twitter spokesperson told TechCrunch: “We proactively monitor emerging narratives that violate our policies, and in this case we have erroneously taken enforcement actions on several accounts. We are quickly reviewing these actions and are looking into the number of accounts affected. We proactively restored access beforehand.” made statements.
Along with the re-establishment of account access, a series of tweets in Ukrainian were shared about how users will protect their accounts against the cyber danger that may occur from the Twitter Safety account.
