Market applications have become very popular, especially with the pandemic. Delivery times have also gained importance in terms of user satisfaction and on top of that, grocery stores offer very competitive delivery times, but that may change in New York City.
Employees and pedestrians endangered
The New York Post reports that city councilor Christopher Marte plans to introduce a bill that would ban advertising promises of 15-minute delivery times for these apps.
While express deliveries may seem highly appealing to the consumer, Marte believes this encourages delivery workers to break traffic laws and put themselves and pedestrians in danger.
At least 20 people are reported to have died in the city in 2020 as a result of electric bike-related accidents, which are widely used in New York City and preferred by delivery workers.
