Announcing its twelfth generation P-series processors for both efficiency and performance-oriented systems, Intel announced its 9W and 15W U-series processors for efficiency-focused systems.

What does the Intel Alder Lake U series offer?

Intel Alder Lake U series is divided into two parts as 15W and 9W. The characteristics are the same, but the frequencies of the nuclei change depending on the energy consumption. The 9W category is home to the lowest performance.

Core i7-1265U in Intel U-series at its peak. While 2 performance cores can be increased to 4.8GHz, 8 efficiency cores can be increased to 3.6GHz. The 96 cluster graphics unit has a frequency of 1250MHz. Level 3 cache is set at 12MB.

15W category processors go down to 900MHz frequency. One Pentium and one Celeron processor are in this category. The number 5 at the end of the naming makes it separate. As in the

P series, two sets of PCIe 4.0 x4 lanes, one set of PCIe 3.0 x12 lanes, up to 4 Thunderbolt 4 ports, integrated WiFi 6E and Gb Ethernet chips appear in the 15W category.

9W category, on the other hand, is separated by the number 0. Base frequencies go down to 700MHz. Graphics frequencies are also clipped. This category targets systems that focus on a little more everyday work.

On the expansion side, there are 1 set of PCIe 4.0 x4 lanes, 10 PCIe 3.0 lanes, up to two Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 lanes, integrated WiFi 6E and Gb Ethernet chips. We will be able to see these systems in March.
