Bethesda plans to shut down its PC gaming launcher Bethesda launcher later this year. Players will be able to move their games, DLCs, virtual currencies, in-game items and wallet balances to their Steam accounts. More details on the process will be announced later.
Starting in April, you’ll be able to move everything to Steam, including friend lists. You may need to manually copy some save files to the Steam folder. Bethesda says nearly all game saves will be transferable. However, Wolfenstein: Youngblood’s progress from the Bethesda launcher will not work on Steam.
Users will be able to continue playing through the Bethesda launcher until May. After this time, you will need to transfer your data to Steam.
Bethesda.net accounts will not be closed. You will continue to use your account to log in to games that require it. Bethesda wants to continue using the accounts in future games.
Bethesda’s parent company, Microsoft, already sells PC games via Steam. Bethesda’s games are also available for purchase through the Xbox app, and many are included with Game Pass.
