The long-standing problem of supplying new cars has created a market where second-hand cars are even more expensive than new ones. As if the price increases caused by the supply-demand imbalance are not squeezing the buyers already, new data was shared today, pointing to another problem in the second-hand market.
Esperix Corporate Auto Expertise Founder and General Manager Emre Öztürk stated that the rising prices in the second hand brought heavy vehicle entry into the market. Öztürk shared one negative result of this entry as follows: “One of the 4 vehicles arriving at our dealers is recorded as heavily damaged.” Öztürk’s statements were as follows:
1-year new model vehicles that had major accidents are also shown as accident-free:
“Even vehicles in the status of scrap vehicles for a period of time were almost accident-free. no sold. The 1-year new model vehicles, which have been severely damaged as a result of a major accident, are offered for sale as if they were accident-free. These vehicles are refurbished using different parts, re-examined and marketed as accident-free. During the period we are in, one of the 4 vehicles that come to our dealers is registered as severely damaged. The increase in the weight of scrap and heavily damaged vehicles increases the need for certified expertise.”
Öztürk also made important warnings that will be useful for those who will buy second-hand cars. Öztürk stated that the parts added later and the exploding airbags are an indication that the vehicles are heavily damaged. He concluded his statements by stating that such situations endanger the vehicle users financially and morally during the sale.
