There was an accident in Hungary yesterday evening, which may raise concerns about the use of electric vehicles. Kia EV6, an electric car, started to catch fire from the front as a result of the driver’s crashing into the barriers.
While it was stated that the driver was injured and taken to the hospital in the accident, investigations were started on the cause of the fire on the vehicle.
It is unknown why the Kia EV6 caught fire
The incident occurred at an intersection on the road. The driver, for some unknown reason, lost control and crashed his vehicle into a hard concrete-like barrier, and the vehicle suddenly started to catch fire.
It is unclear why the vehicle suddenly burst into flames, just like the cause of the accident. However, according to the statements made by the experts, the cables transmitting high voltage were damaged as a result of the impact, which caused the lithium-ion batteries to catch fire.
It was certainly not a pleasant situation for the automobile giant that a model of Kia’s electric product line was involved in such an accident and then the images made a big noise on YouTube. Because although the probability of fire in electric vehicles is less than in hybrid or internal combustion engines, once lithium-ion batteries catch fire, it can be almost impossible to extinguish. For this reason, automobile brands always try to maximize safety when they produce an electric model.
