Instagram has changed the daily limit feature that allows users to limit the time they spend in the app. When an update comes to social media platforms, we usually witness that a new feature is added. This time, Instagram, which is out of the ordinary, has removed the existing options.

Thanks to the ‘daily limit’ feature introduced in 2018, users could choose to receive notifications after spending as little as 10 minutes a day on Instagram. Thus, the company aimed to reduce social media addiction. In fact, ‘Take a break’ warnings were added to the application last year for this purpose.

Instagram removed the ’10 minutes’ option

Users can choose to receive an alert after spending 10-30 minutes on Instagram with the take a break feature. However, the social media platform affiliated with Meta has removed the 10 minutes option from the daily limit feature. Now in the application you have to start the daily time limit from a minimum of 30 minutes.

After the silent change, daily limit options are 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, respectively. and it’s been 3 hours. Previously, this limitation could be reduced to 10 minutes.

Instagram hinted that it made the change to eliminate possible confusion for users, saying, “We’ve changed the ‘daily limit’ options to not send multiple notifications to people at the same time.” In another post, the company talked about the take a break feature:

Our current ‘daily limit’ feature shows you a notification when you reach the daily limit. However, our newest feature, ‘Take a Break’, includes 10-minute intervals and shows you full-screen reminders to leave the app.
