Starfield hasn’t shown itself in terms of gameplay yet, but we can say that what we’ve seen so far in terms of graphics and design arouses curiosity. A new interview with Starfield developers says Bethesda will adopt the “NASA-Punk” style.

Announcing the competition related to the game, Bethesda released a video on the making of the main illustration, and on this occasion returned to talk about the game’s design. Illustrator, animator Rick Vicens and Bethesda lead artist Istvan Pely gave interesting speeches about the “NASA-Punk” style chosen for this new science fiction epic.

What is Starfield’s NASA-Punk style?

While many people, including the game’s own director, Todd Howard, refer to Starfield as “Skyrim in outer space,” we have no doubt that Starfield will have an entirely different aesthetic. But we now know that Bethesda has adopted a style it calls “NASA-punk” for its space game.

Bethesda’s lead artist, Istvan Pely, said they tried to create the overall aesthetic of the game at the beginning of the project, and then NASA-Punk he says they use the term to describe a more realistic and recognizable science fiction universe.

“We wanted a realistic approach to the world of Starfield. It is possible to draw a common line based on current space technology and convincingly predict what might happen in the future.”

Chief animator Rick Vicens admitted that the path Starfield followed for NASA-Punk style was quite interesting:

“When you say NASA-punk, the art team He immediately understood these two words and got to work. It was the perfect term for our art direction and kept everyone in the same concept. I think it is critical to adopt this style at the beginning of the project.”

Starfield’s release date is November 11, 2022, but we’ll see it officially again this summer, possibly at the Xbox and Bethesda presentation during this year’s E3.
